In September, 2012 I visited the favela outside the Jardim Gramacho dump in Rio (once the largest in the world). I was shocked and appalled at the conditions the people were living in. It was when told to watch my step because of hospital waste that I noticed the children at my side were barefoot. I have since partnered with Wellspring Trust to outfit the children of Jardim Gramacho with proper footwear through our supplier Soles4Souls.
